Back at work (9:45 pm to 6:00 am or so) so I'll be randomly on before of after said time until my days off. Will have time to work on stories that need to be written and am thinking again of changing professions. I get so much stupidity at work that I'm worried the stuff will eventually rub off on me and I'll start talking and acting like the country music loving, bible toting, Bush loving idiots that I work with. *Sighs* I need a vacation.

Got my first story archived on Noire Sensus. Hard to imagine this is the first since I've been writing for twenty years, but I've never thought about submitting anything. Confirmation came today and this has the boys and I feeling like we've acomplished something. Now, how about those drinks?

Pairing: Irvine/Squall
Rating: NC-17
Squall watched the forlorn cowboy walk out of the cafeteria, his
face cast toward the floor. He wasn't sure how to deal with Irvine
who seemed so changed since his return. He'd watched Irvine through
lunch; the cowboy seemed defeated, unsure of himself, his confidence
gone. Irvine no longer seemed like the raging bundle of hormones
Squall once thought he was, chasing anything that moved, but seemed
more subdued. Squall wouldn't say the change wasn't good, but it
didn't seem to fit Irvine's usual laid-back personality. The easy
smile Irvine always seemed to have hovering on his lips was gone,
replaced by a thin frown that tugged at the corners of his mouth; the
expression just seemed wrong on the cowboy.
Squall shrugged as he headed for his office, there was nothing he could do for Irvine until his memory returned and he still had the two cadets' deaths to figure out; it was going to be a long day and the problems that faced him and Irvine didn't seem to have any solutions. Quistis was coming out of his office as Squall stepped out of the lift.
“The reports you wanted are on your desk,” she said as she headed toward the lift. “Whoever did this is a sadistic fuck.”
Squall raised his eyebrows at the blonde’s retreating back, but said nothing. He walked into his office, closing the door behind him and trying to steel himself for whatever was contained in the thin manila folder resting on his desk. Squall hadn’t missed Quistis’s unspoken warning; something in the report had caused her to lose her composure.
Squall walked to his desk, his eyes on the folder. Heavy, red block letters proclaimed the file confidential, the back of a paperclip attached to the top. He stood for a moment beside his chair; curiosity and dread made him hesitate until duty won and he slid reluctantly into the seat. He held his breath and opened the folder.
A stack of pictures held in place under the paperclip caught his attention and Squall’s eyes skimmed the first photograph as he pulled the pictures free. Clinical, factual, distant, showing how and where the bodies of the female cadets were found. He shuffled the picture to the back; his eyes never left the stack in his hand. The next picture revealed tread marks from a vehicle, the depressions deep, the vehicle had sat for quite some time in the spot before leaving. Squall set aside the picture, the treads seemed familiar; he’d seen these before, he was sure of it.

I can't believe with all the public outcry against Bush that he managed to be awarded another four years. WTF? We already know what this means, more soldiers headed over to Iraq (I have three co-workers that leave within the next two months). Gay marriage? Yeah, right. Supposedly we're filthy people who should be ashamed of ourselves. Makes me wonder where he stands with Wiccans/Pagans, he certainly couldn't be for us, we're not Christian enough. Blow me. I just can't understand what the hell happened.
